  • Cookie scoop (optional)

Ingredients

  • Unsalted butter – 1 cup (2 sticks)
  • Brown sugar – 1 cup, packed
  • Granulated sugar – ½ cup
  • Eggs – 2 large
  • Vanilla extract – 2 tsp
  • All-purpose flour – 2 ½ cups
  • Baking soda – 1 tsp
  • Salt – ½ tsp
  • Semi-sweet chocolate chips – 2 cups

Instructions

Brown the butter

  • Place butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Stir constantly until golden brown and nutty. Remove from heat and cool slightly.

Mix the sugars

  • In a large bowl, combine brown sugar and granulated sugar. Pour in warm browned butter. Stir until smooth and creamy.

Add eggs and vanilla

  • Beat in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla extract. Mix until shiny and creamy.

Combine dry ingredients

  • In a separate bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add to butter mixture. Mix until just combined.

Stir in chocolate chips

  • Fold in chocolate chips using a spatula. Ensure they are evenly distributed throughout the dough.

Chill the dough

  • Cover dough and chill for 30 minutes if desired. This helps cookies hold shape and intensifies flavor.

Preheat the oven

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheet with parchment paper or silicone mat.

Scoop the dough

  • Use cookie scoop or spoon to place dough balls on baking sheet, leaving 2 inches between each cookie.

Bake the cookies

  • Bake 10–12 minutes until edges are golden and centers soft. Avoid overbaking.

Cool and enjoy

  • Cool cookies on baking sheet 5 minutes, then transfer to cooling rack. Enjoy warm or at room temperature.

Notes

  • Chill dough for chewier cookies
  • Do not overbake for soft centers
  • Add nuts for extra crunch
  • Sprinkle sea salt on top for sweet-salty flavor
