Equipment

  • Large skillet or frying pan
  • Mixing bowl
  • Cutting board
  • Sharp knife
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Spatula or wooden spoon
  • Cheese grater if using block cheese

Ingredients

  • Cooked chicken – 2 cups, shredded or diced
  • Olive oil – 1 tablespoon
  • Butter – 2 tablespoons
  • Garlic cloves – 4, minced
  • Garlic powder – 1 teaspoon
  • Onion powder – ½ teaspoon
  • Paprika – ½ teaspoon
  • Salt – ½ teaspoon
  • Black pepper – ¼ teaspoon
  • Shredded mozzarella cheese – 1 ½ cups
  • Shredded cheddar cheese – ½ cup
  • Cream cheese – ¼ cup, softened
  • Large flour tortillas – 4
  • Chopped fresh parsley – 2 tablespoons, optional
  • Extra butter for toasting the wraps

Instructions

Prepare the chicken

  • Place the cooked chicken in a mixing bowl. Add garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Toss everything together until the chicken is evenly coated with the seasonings and looks well mixed.

Make the garlic butter

  • Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the butter and olive oil. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for about one minute until fragrant. Be careful not to let the garlic burn or turn bitter.

Warm the chicken

  • Add the seasoned chicken to the skillet with the garlic butter. Cook for three to four minutes, stirring often. The chicken should become hot and absorb the rich garlic flavor throughout every piece.

Add the creamy cheese mixture

  • Lower the heat and stir in the softened cream cheese. Mix until it melts completely and coats the chicken. This creates a creamy filling that helps hold the shredded cheese together inside the wraps.

Mix in the shredded cheese

  • Add the mozzarella and cheddar cheese to the skillet. Stir gently until the cheese starts melting. The mixture should become gooey and cheesy but still thick enough to scoop into the tortillas easily.

Fill the tortillas

  • Lay the tortillas flat on a clean surface. Divide the cheesy garlic chicken mixture evenly among them. Sprinkle chopped parsley on top if using. Leave a small border around the edges for easier wrapping.

Wrap them up

  • Fold in the sides of each tortilla, then roll tightly from the bottom to create a wrap. Make sure the filling stays tucked inside. A tight roll helps the wraps hold together while cooking.

Toast the wraps

  • Lightly butter the skillet and place the wraps seam-side down. Cook for two to three minutes per side until golden brown and crispy. The tortillas should be toasted and the cheese fully melted inside.

Serve and enjoy

  • Remove the wraps from the skillet and let them rest for one minute. Slice them in half if desired. Serve warm while the cheese is still stretchy and the garlic aroma is at its best.

Notes

  • Use rotisserie chicken for an even faster meal.
  • Try pepper jack cheese for a spicy version.
  • Add spinach, bell peppers, or mushrooms for extra vegetables.
  • Swap flour tortillas for whole wheat tortillas if preferred.
  • Brush the outside with garlic butter before toasting for more flavor.
  • Add a spoonful of ranch dressing or sour cream inside the wrap for extra creaminess.
  • If the filling seems too thick, add a tablespoon of milk to loosen it slightly.
  • Storage: Keep in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Wrap individually in foil for easy reheating.
  • Reheating: Heat in a skillet over medium-low for 2-3 minutes per side, or bake at 350°F (175°C) for 10 minutes.
