  • Butter – 4 tablespoons
  • All-purpose flour – 4 tablespoons
  • Milk – 3 cups
  • Heavy cream – 1 cup
  • Gruyere cheese – 1 cup, shredded

  • Cooked lobster meat – 1 pound, chopped
  • Panko bread crumbs – ½ cup
  • Fresh parsley – 1 tablespoon, chopped

Instructions

Cook Pasta

  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook elbow macaroni until tender, then drain and set aside.

Make Roux

  • Melt butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Whisk in flour and cook for 1–2 minutes to remove raw flour taste.

Prepare Cheese Sauce

  • Slowly whisk in milk and heavy cream until smooth. Cook 5–7 minutes until slightly thickened.

Add Cheeses and Seasoning

  • Remove sauce from heat. Stir in Gruyere, cheddar, and Parmesan until melted. Season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg.

Combine Pasta and Sauce

  • Gently fold cooked macaroni into the cheese sauce until every piece is coated and creamy.

Add Lobster

  • Carefully fold chopped lobster meat into macaroni mixture, preserving chunks and flavor for rich, luxurious taste.

Assemble Casserole

  • Pour mixture into greased baking dish. Sprinkle panko breadcrumbs evenly on top for a crispy, golden finish.

Bake

  • Bake in preheated oven at 375°F for 20–25 minutes until golden and bubbly. Let rest a few minutes before serving.

Garnish and Serve

  • Garnish with fresh parsley and serve warm. Perfect alongside salad or garlic bread for a complete meal.

Notes

  • Use fresh lobster meat for best flavor, frozen works if thawed
  • Do not overcook macaroni, keep it tender but firm
  • Mix cheeses for balance of richness and creaminess
  • Breadcrumb topping adds a satisfying crunch
  • Serve warm, optionally with salad or garlic bread
