Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Fork or potato masher
  • Measuring cups
  • Measuring spoons
  • Whisk
  • Loaf pan (9x5 inch)
  • Spatula
  • Oven

Ingredients

  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, optional
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts, optional

Instructions

Prepare Bananas

  • Take ripe bananas and place them in a large bowl. Mash them using a fork or potato masher. Keep mashing until smooth with small lumps for texture.

Mix Wet Ingredients

  • Add melted butter into mashed bananas. Then add sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix everything well using a whisk until smooth and creamy texture forms.

Combine Dry Ingredients

  • In another bowl, mix flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon. Stir gently so all dry ingredients are evenly combined and ready for the banana bread batter.

Mix Batter

  • Slowly add dry ingredients into wet mixture. Stir gently using a spatula until just combined. Do not overmix because it can make the bread dense and heavy.

Add Walnuts

  • If using walnuts, fold them gently into the batter. Spread them evenly so every slice has a nice crunch and flavor in the banana bread.

Prepare Pan

  • Grease a loaf pan with butter or oil. Pour the batter inside evenly. Tap lightly on counter to remove air bubbles before baking.

Bake Banana Bread

  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Bake banana bread for 55 to 60 minutes. Check doneness with a toothpick inserted in center until it comes out clean.

Cool and Slice

  • Let banana bread cool in pan for 10 minutes. Then transfer to a rack. Cooling helps set texture before slicing into soft, delicious pieces.

Notes

  • Use very ripe bananas for best sweetness and flavor.
  • Do not overmix the batter or bread may become dense.
  • Walnuts can be replaced with chocolate chips.
  • Store in airtight container to keep moist.
  • Freeze slices for later use up to 2 months.
  • Serve warm with butter or honey for best taste.
