How to make Ramen Noodles Stir Fry

If you remain busy, you will find this recipe perfect for a quick meal. I suggest serving this ramen stir-fried noodles immediately while it’s still hot and saucy, even though it keeps well in the refrigerator.

But you need to avoid refrigerating gluten-free noodles as they soak up more sauce. Enjoy making it with a variety of vegetables and serving with different side dishes for fun.

Ingredients

  • Ramen noodles = 6 ounces (2 blocks)
  • Fresh chopped broccoli, bok choy, or veggies of choice = 2 cups
  • Shelled edamame = ½ cup
  • Garlic = 5 cloves (2 1/2 tsp minced)
  • Freshly grated ginger = 1 tbsp (or 1 tsp dried, but fresh is best!)
  • Chopped green onions/scallions = ⅓ cup(only white part for the stir fry)
  • Oil = 1 tbsp (vegetable or olive)

Sauce

  • Low sodium soy sauce = 3-4 tbsp
  • Vegetable or chicken broth = 2 tbsp
  • Toasted sesame oil = 2 tsp
  • Sriracha = 1 tbsp (more or less depending on spice preference)
  • Sweet chili sauce = 1 tbsp ( adjustable to taste)

Step by step instructions to make Ramen Noodles Stir Fry

Step 1

By the package instructions, bring a large pot of water to the boil and cook the noodles.

Step 2

Ramen noodles typically cook in two minutes, but gluten-free noodles will have comparatively a longer time of cooking. Take care not to overcook them, as this could make them excessively chewy or soggy.

Step 3

Add grated ginger, chopped scallions, minced garlic, and olive or vegetable oil to the hot pan.

Step 4

Add in the garlic and cook until browned and aromatic.

Step 5

Add the vegetables and edamame. Let the vegetables cook until they are wilted or almost cut with a fork.

Step 6

In a small bowl, mix together all the ingredients for the sauce. Add the vegetables, sauce, and cooked noodles simultaneously.

Step 7

To let the flavors meld, simmer over extremely low heat.

Step 8

Taste and alter the flavors to your liking. I prefer it spicy and saucy, so I generally add extra soy sauce!

Step 9

Serve with the remaining chopped scallions and sesame seeds. Have fun!

Recipe Variations

Sweet Chilli Sauce

For compensation of salt, you can use sweet chilli sauce for a little sweetness.

Gluten-free Noodle

You can opt for rice noodles for a gluten-free version, as most of the ramen noodles contain wheat in them.

Spaghetti

As ramen noodles are more chewier, you can replace them with any other kind of long spaghetti.

Vegetables

You can substitute broccoli with your favorite vegetables.

Mushrooms

Adding mushrooms to this recipe can enhance the flavor

Recipe Tips

Here are some tips for making the best version of Ramen Stir Fry noodles:

There is a difference between sesame oil and toasted sesame oil. For this dish, use the toasted version for maximum taste.

  1. Start with two tablespoons of soy sauce and add more as necessary if you don’t want it overly salty.
  2. Serve the noodles fresh for optimal results, especially if you’re using gluten-free noodles, as they have a tendency to absorb a lot of sauce while they’re sitting!
  3. To make it the perfect meal, serve it with tofu, stir-fried chicken, or fish.
  4. Try adding different vegetables of your choice for a unique experience.
