Ingredients
  

  • Challah Loaf = 1
  • Large eggs = 8
  • Pure vanilla extract = 1 tsp
  • Honey = 3 tsp
  • Kosher salt = 1/4 tsp
  • Milk or half-and-half = 5 cups
  • Grated orange zest = 1 tsp
  • Confectioners' maple syrup and sugar,, for serving.

Instructions
 

  • Start with preheating your oven to 350 F.
  • Slice challah loaf into thick slices of 3/4 inch. Divide the loaf slices into two layers in a 9x13x2 inch baking dish.
  • Whisk together the eggs, half-and-half, honey, orange zest, salt and vanilla. Pour it over your bread slices and let soak for 10 minutes.
  • Fill a big roasting pan with boiling water. Put a baking dish inside the roasting pan and then cover tightly using aluminum foil. Make some slashes in the foil to let steam out.
  • Bake for around 40 to 45 minutes. Then remove the aluminum foil & bake for forty to forty-five minutes, till the bread has puffed up. Remove your baking dish from the heated oven and allow it to cool slightly.
  • Sprinkle confectioners' sugar lightly. Now, you are ready to serve immediately while hot, with maple syrup.
