Take a food processor. Combine cream cheese, cheddar cheese, sour cream, ranch seasoning, scallion whites, and two bacon slices. Process all these ingredients in the food processor until blended thoroughly for about 30 seconds.

Step 3

Recipe Variations

Following are some recipe variations of Cheese Balls:

Bacon and Ranch Cheese Balls

You can add Crumbled and cooked bacon to the cheese mixture for a variation and a packet of ranch dressing mix can be used in place of fresh herbs. Instead of rolling the cheese ball in pecans, try rolling it in a mixture of chopped crispy bacon and chopped fresh chives.

Blue Cheese and Pecan Cheese Balls

Add some blue cheese in the cheese mixture with half of the cheddar cheese to get an extra tart taste. Chopped fresh rosemary or thyme is added with onion and garlic for this recipe. Rolling the cheese in finely chopped toasted nuts will give some additional flavor to the cheese balls.

Sun Dried Tomato and Basil Cheese Balls

You can add finely chopped sun-dried tomatoes into the cheese mixture for a sort of sweet and savory taste. Then add freshly chopped basil leaves and a pinch of Italian spice in that and stir it. Roll the cheese ball in a mixture of finely chopped toasted pine nuts and dried basil for a twist with a Mediterranean feel.

Spicy Jalapeno and Cheddar Cheese Balls

For this recipe add diced fresh jalapeños or finely chopped pickled jalapeños in the cheese mixture. You can replace the Worcestershire sauce with a small teaspoon of cayenne pepper or a small splash of hot sauce for extra spices. Roll the cheese ball in a mixture of finely chopped toasted almonds and chopped cilantro for a Tex-Mex twist.

Smoked Salmon and Dill Cheese Balls

For smoked Salmon and Dill Cheese Balls add some finely chopped lox or smoked salmon in the cheese mixture. Now add a splash of lemon juice and some chopped fresh dill for a zesty and fresh taste. Roll the cheese ball with finely chopped toasted almonds and chopped fresh chives for an attractive touch.
